What is brazilian jiu-jitsu?

BJJ uses fundamental mechanics of human movement, frames and levers to subdue an opponent, leading to submissions such as joint locks and chokes. BJJ is practiced for fitness, self-defense, and as a popular competitive sport. Throughout the world, people of all ages, sizes and levels of fitness safely train in this challenging and rewarding combat martial art.

We have morning, evening and weekend adult and youth classes to suit your schedule!

Who's Teaching

Since opening Solarte BJJ in 2017, Jenn has offered a fun and engaged approach to teaching both adults and children. She received her black belt from Joey Lopez of South Shore Jiu-Jitsu and Rob Biernacki, Head Instructor and Founder of Island Top Team. Solarte BJJ is the premier U.S. affiliate of Island Top Team based in Nanaimo, B.C. in Canada. Jenn has taught BJJ for over 13 years and trained in a number of martial arts before falling in love with Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. She is passionate about creating a quality training environment that is challenging, fun and supportive.
