2026 Winter Class Schedule at Solarte BJJ

We’ve hit the ground running for this 2026 Winter Class Schedule! Solarte BJJ is now open 7 days a week with sessions for kids and adults!

Adult BJJ Class Schedule

FOR BEGINNERS & COMPETITORS
Almost all the classes welcome beginners, but we recommend the following classes if you’re new since you’ll receive the most guidance and a proper “begin from the beginning” foundation: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5am | Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30pm | Saturdays at 10:30am

Right now, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30pm and Saturday mornings are competition team training, but Comp Team is only working on fundamentals right now. “Competition Team” sounds intimidating. It’s actually just a basics class.

All the fundamentals classes cover the basic skills of grappling during each session: standing work, guard work from the grounded position, passing from the top position and pinning work from behind or on top, all of which sometimes includes joint locks and chokes.

We also use training games to help you safely develop these skills more quickly than just rote drilling. And our instruction focuses on concepts to help tie it all together. We also invite questions and encourage a problem-solving playful mindset. If you like a living, moving puzzle, then jiu jitsu is for you!

MORNING CLASSES (includes rolling)
Mondays 5—6am No Gi: No Gi fundamentals class taught by Jake Blaski
Wednesdays 5—6am Gi: Gi fundamentals taught by Jenn Lozada. (A few no gi competitors are also in the class as we prepare for the ADCC Open in Portland, OR)
Fridays 5—6am No Gi : No Gi fundamentals taught by Jenn Lozada.
Saturdays 10:30am—Noon No Gi and Open Mat: Taught by Alex Acosta and Jenn Lozada. This is currently a competition/fundamentals class, but there’s also lots of rolling time and a chance to ask questions and work on basics.

NOON SESSIONS 12—1pm
Mondays/Wednesdays/Thursdays: Members only Open Mat usually lead by Chip Smith. We have a club group chat to confirm if students can make it to this session. Not exactly a structured training time, but it’s good for easy going rolls, working on the skills of your choice and getting away from work for a bit.

EVENING CLASSES (includes rolling)
Sundays 6—7pm Gi: Gi class taught by Jake Blaski
Mondays 6:30—7:30pm Gi: Intermediate/Advanced Gi Class taught by Bernt Nesset
Tuesdays/Thursdays 5:30—6:30pm No Gi: Comp Team/Basics class taught by Alex Acosta

WOMEN-ONLY SELF-DEFENSE
Mondays 3:30–5pm (through March 2nd): This 8-week series covers the concepts and fundamental skills for avoiding and dealing with violence. It is tailored specifically for teen girls’/women’s concerns and physicality. Taught by Coach Jenn Lozada. • Learn more!

Youth BJJ Classes

For all youth classes, there is open play time during the 10 minutes before and after the class. But please be ready to pick up your children right when the class ends since open play time sometimes ends early. Open play time is an important time for kids to socialize and make up their own games!

Classes are taught mostly through fun games that teach kids all the basic skills of standing, pinning and other ground work such as sweeping and passing. All classes include some rolling time as well. The Submissions class also uses games and exploratory work to understand chokes and joint locks. Entry into the Subs class is by instructor permission only.

Tuesday No Gi 4:30–5:15pm: This class is ideal for beginners, but more advanced youth students also benefit a great deal from working on fundamental no gi (no uniform) grappling games and concepts. It’s a fun, energetic class and the kids love learning through play. Any active wear is fine, but we recommend rash guards and spats with shorts to avoid mat burn.

Wednesday Gi/No Gi Submissions 5:30–6:15pm: Entry into this class is by instructor permission only! A reminder is sent each week to parents since the class alternates between gi and no gi submission controls. This is a class for kids with greater dedication, attention span and self control since we cover choke and breaking mechanics as well as advanced back controls. We encourage kids in this class to also attend the other classes so they better understand the situations that lead to submission opportunities.

Thursday Gi 4:30–5:15pm: This class is another one that’s great for beginners! Again, more advanced students are also in the class because fundamentals are key to long term development. Kids in this class work on basic gi-based games and concepts. NOTE: We recommend Elite and Sanabul gis from Amazon since they are well-priced and good quality. Please DO NOT wear Tae Kwon Do or Karate gis because they won’t stand up to the wear and tear of a gi jiu jitsu class!

Li’l Ones Classes

Tuesdays or Wednesdays 3:30–4pm with 15 minutes of open play time afterwards. This is a parent and child program for little ones ages 3.5 to 8. The program is now full, but call or text Jenn at (360) 808-3197 to get on the Wait List!
