We’ve just completed our BJJ belt promotions and evaluations! Every spring and fall, we officially recognize the progress of our adult and youth students. For the adults, Coaches Brian and Jenn discuss where everyone’s at in their journey. For the youth, students schedule an evaluation which is a short series of games. Parents/family are welcome to watch the evaluation and ask any questions during and after. Stripes and belt promotions are given based on progress in the following skill sets: standing work, guard work, passing and pinning. For both youth and adults, participation in the striping/promotion system is entirely optional. There’s more detail on the belts and stripes on our Schedule & Info page.
Adult BJJ Belt Promotions
This spring’s adult evaluations were extra special because we got to promote four students to blue—a big deal for a little club. Ivan, Jon, Brady and Jesse put in a lot of work over the last several months, squeezing in training while juggling jobs, family time, chores and coaching other sports. I’m proud of them and the whole team…everyone has been improving and helping each other get better. Blue belt is a special accomplishment, but it’s not possible without your teammates. At a small town club, every person on the mat really makes a difference. So thank you, everyone, plus a special shout out to Coach Brian Williamson. We appreciate you!🙏
Youth BJJ Belt Promotions
A number of our youth students opted into the striping/promotions program this spring. Congratulations to Aspen and Riley for getting your first stripes on your white belts. Special recognition goes to Zealand for receiving her gray and black belt plus two stripes! Coach Jenn conducted their evaluations with parents/family present. It’s always a pleasure to award stripes and belts with everyone there to applaud the kids’ progress and take pictures!
